I think it is because the fabric of the online world is thin enough around Christmas time and with ever more organised internet crime sellers and buyers need to be protected. eBay seems to forget the sellers far too often in the mix. It is sensible that that have in theory limited the damage to £1000, all covered by the protection policy. I hope it works, eBay sales have been waning for too long and eBay express was a flop. (out of about £600K of sales I think I counted 5 express sales. FIVE!) It was a great idea though.

I don’t get why sellers would be against this. If you have PayPal seller protection, that’s as much as you’re ever going to have. If you operate a website and take credit cards directly, you probably don’t have any more protection there either. Selling on the net puts you at risk of fraudsters, just like having a real life shop puts you at risk of shoplifters.

Seriously, has anyone who’s just lost money to a scam buyer EVER thought “oh well, I can neg them so who cares about the money?” I doubt it very much somehow :^O
